Gingerbread may not be a very likely option, but T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide users can now get a dessert of another sort (albeit a slightly stale one), as the phone has finally received an update to Android 2.2 (a.k.a. Froyo). Unfortunately, there’s apparently no over-the-air update planned, and the software required for the installation is Windows-only, so anyone with a Mac looking to upgrade will have to find a PC-using friend willing to help them out. If you’re all set to go, however, you can download the update from HTC at the source link
HTC has released digital compass app for HTC Windows Phone 7 devices which is available for download through Marketplace yet not available on HTC Hub.
To play with HTC compass app on WP7 go to Windows Marketplace and download it for free whereas developers with unlcoked phones can grab .XAP file from XDA.
HTC Thunderbolt is one of the toughest known device to root but the XDA team member dbzfanatic brings up a utility Easyroot + S-Off that makes Thunderbolt root process quite easy.

I first want to thank everyone at UnrEVOked for what they’ve done. I’m posting this because there aren’t any really detailed instructions. Its an easy enough root, but I know I’ve been there before and even the simplest things can be tough if things aren’t laid out. So here’s a step by step tutorial.
Due to some bugs, Unrevoked 3.2 was taken down shortly after being released, but the updated version is now LIVE! So obviously we’re going to bring you a video tutorial on how to do it! Thanks to the guys at Unrevoked for giving us this simple solution to [...]
Yes folks, the leaks were for real, HTC really is bringing out a pair of new handsets adorned with a dedicated, delicately illustrated Facebook key front and (almost) center. HTC is very careful not to call its Salsa — a 3.4-inch, 480 x 320 touchscreen device — and portrait QWERTY-sporting ChaCha “Facebook phones,” however Mark Z’s highly successful social network is indeed the focus around which both are built. The OS is Android 2.4 underneath, however the Sense customizations have taken on an extra few tweaks and functions to accommodate a Facebook-centric [...]
The buttonless wonder we once knew only as “HTC’s upcoming flagship device” has today been revealed to be the Incredible S. It’s a new 4-incher that emulates the Droid Incredible’s successful industrial design, but deviates in a lot of other ways, including the fact it’ll launch globally — at some point in early Q2, but with only Android 2.2 on board. We got to see one in person ahead of today’s unveiling and we have to say it feels like a very solidly and neatly built pocket machine. The capacitive buttons’ labels are not painted on [...]
Boy oh boy, HTC is entering the tablet arena with quite a bang. The company has just taken the wraps off its brand new 7-inch Flyer Android tablet, which touts a 1.5GHz single-core CPU, 1GB of RAM plus 32GB of flash storage, an aluminum unibody construction, 1024 x 600 resolution, a tablet-optimized version of Sense, and… what’s this, a pressure-sensitive capacitive stylus! The HTC Scribe trademark we saw floating around in legal waters turned out not to be the branding for a tablet, it’s actually the name HTC gives to the technology enabling what it calls a “groundbreaking [...]
