Pakistan blocks Twitter over contentious material

The Pakistan Government on Sunday blocked the social networking website Twitter because of material that it considered offensive to Islam. Pakistan Telecommunications Authority chairman Mohammad Yaseen said the social networking website was blocked Sunday because Twitter refused to remove material related to a competition on Facebook to post images of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. Many Muslims regard depictions of the prophet, even favorable ones, as blasphemous. Facebook to buy Instagram for $1 billion

How’s this for some big news on an otherwise slow Monday? Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has let slip that his company plans to buy popular photo-sharing app Instagram (pending all of the standard regulatory approvals, naturally). About three years ago Ars Technica has pointed out the Facebook flaw where the photos deleted by its users still exist in the cloud, and accessible via direct links after months or even years. YouTube Surpasses 4 Billion Video Views Per Day

Reuters, reported that YouTube is getting approximately 4 billion video hits per day, as the figure has changed with an increase of 25% since May, 2011. Google relates the increase of Youtube video viewership to the increase of smart mobile devices. Furthermore, YouTube owner Google also announced some other figures, that about 60 hours of video is now uploaded to YouTube each minute, whereas this figure was 48 hours of video upload every minute in May, 2011.
