The next version of Android will be called Froyo, which is short for “frozen yoghurt”. Engadget caught up with Erick Tseng, Senior Product Manager of Android, who dished up some information.
Google has its own way to make us keep guessing what would the next Android version be called. As the trend follows with, C-upcake, D-onut and E-clair – We knew the next name would start with a ‘F’-royo.
Android has been making big improvements with ever release, and with Froyo, we could again start wonderign what Google will now add in the next Android version.
Now additional [...]
For God knows, how many years this rumour has been going on of Google working on its own phone. Even when the rumours were high at peak last year, Google announced G1.
Today they confirmed, that Google is indeed working on a new Google Phone and well, according to the specifications known so far, is a very cool phone!
The phone hasn’t been labeled as Google Phone, but it is for us since the phone runs on Android and have far more higher capabilities and features than G1. Other details gathered by various sources online are as follows.

First I shared you the entire step-by-step tutorial on how you can root HTC Hero and install custom ROM on it.
Now I’m sharing this tutorial on how you can root Motorola Droid Android 2.0 (and also works with Android 2.0.1).
If you’re still unsure what rooting does, it’s just like jaibreaking your iPhone or iPod Touch, or hacking your Nokia S60 hone to get access to the firmware files and modify them as you like.
Android 2.0.1 OTA software update was recently released for the Droid, so that’s the firmware used in this tutorial by AllDroid.

A lot has been going on at HTC for the HTC Hero. They promised us with an Android 2.0 update soon, but still we haven’t heard anything from them since then.
And then, recently came up the leaked screenshots of someone running Android 2.1 on HTC Hero with Sense UI.
A developer at the xda-developers forums has ported Android 2.0 Eclair to HTC Hero which is an AOSP release. AOSP means no proprietary apps like HTC’s or Google’s in the OS.
I built this rom from sources.

This is just the first beta version by the developer and claims no responsibility of any [...]
Just now I wrote about HTC Hero running on Android 2.1 and here we have some screenshots of Android 2.1 with HTC Sense UI.
The interface is just like it should be with Sense, which means HTC would be soon releasing the Android 2.0 (or 2.1) firmware update for HTC Hero.

HTC Hero with Android 2.1 Leaked Screenshots
We all know that HTC has promised Android 2.0 for HTC Hero but we just found something much more exciting and surprising.
Could this be really true that HTC Hero will run on Android 2.1? Several screenshots have been found of Android 2.1 running on Hero.
It could be that Google might be releasing a minor update to Android 2.0 before the end of 2009 and have teased us with that in the screenshot above, but there is still no official word on this.
And if you notice the interface, there is no difference in Sense UI of Android 1.5, which is currently on HTC Hero, and in this screenshot of Android [...]
Finally we’re seeing some useful Android app being released as more Android phones show up in the market. The latest app I like is PS3 Friends, that brings PSN friends to your Android phone.
PS3 Friends Android app is still in beta stage, but does as its download page tells in the Android Market. It shows your PSN friends and their last activity, like the last time they logged in their account.

This app has a very easy and simple interface. You can see it in the screenshot above. The app shows:

Facebook for Android is one of the worst app Facebook has ever released for any of their devices. The Android version can barely do anything – But now, welcome the Facebook 1.1 for Android.
In my experience with Facebook 1.0 app on HTC Hero, all it could do is check your news feed and comment or like feed items there. Or most you can do is open anyone’s profile information.
In the recently launched Motorola Droid, that runs on Android 2.0, it has been found that it comes with the latest Facebook 1.1 and someone has been kind enough to extract the .APK out of the Droid for the rest [...]
Just a couple of days ago I was talking about Android 2.0 being ported to G1/HTC Dream, but that was just videos and no developer had said anything about releasing the port from public.
barakinflorida from XDA-Developers forums as posted that he’s currently working on Motorola Sholes Android 2.0 port to G1.
He has already ported Android 2.0 from Motorola Sholes to G1, but the problem he’s facing is that the ported Android 2.0 is big for the size of G1. Once he gets over this problem, he’ll release the update file for Android 2.0 to run on G1.
The screenshot you see above is [...]
It’s just two days since Android 2.0 SDK was officially released and announced by Google, and guess what? Android 2.0 has already been ported to G1 and HTC Dream.
Performance wise, Android 2.0 on G1 and HTC dream is quite slow, but the developer community at XDA-Developers will definitely do something about it and will actually make it usable.
I wonder if HTC Hero developers had this mind, but since Android 2.0 for HTC Hero is officially announced, no one would waste their time on that.
But seriously, if Android 2.0 gets ironed for G1 and HCT Dream specifications, now that would be big!
