Samsung and Google postpone Ice Cream Sandwich and Galaxy Nexus

Color us a disappointed shade of blue, but it appears that Samsung and Google have decided not to launch the Galaxy Nexus (or Nexus Prime, or whatever it’s called) and Ice Cream Sandwich at their October 11th Unpacked event. The two companies sent out a joint announcement reading: Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced. The press event on the 11th was expected to be not only the debut for the successor to the Nexus S, but our first [...]

Fujitsu’s waterproof Arrows Tab LTE F-01D

First rule of expensive electronics 101 is don’t get’em wet. For the Japanese, however, a waterproof gadget option’s a welcome value-add to time spent soaking in that ofuro. We first got a sneak peek at DoCoMo’s H2O-resistant LTE Fujitsu tablet just last week, and now the company’s making the announcement official. Joining the Arrows Tab LTE F-01D on the carrier’s new 4G Xi (read: Crossy) network is our good Samsung friend, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE SC-01D. Both slates are set to hit the operator’s Japanese airwaves next month, with Sammy’s bowing [...]

Lenovo IdeaPad U300 S

In a couple of days that saw the announcement of a raft of Intel Ultrabooks here at IFA 2011, the Lenovo U300 S looks to set the bar high, with incredible power and a great design to boot. The slim 13.3-inch body measures just 14.9mm at its thickest point, making it one of the thinnest ultrabooks we’ve seen. Only yesterday, Toshiba announced its Portege Z830 which measured just 15.9mm, and the pace at which manufacturers are releasing, means it’s likely we’ll see thinner again. The whole package weighs 1.3kg, which in ultrabook terms is heavy. Acer has managed to get its ultrabook [...]

Good news everyone, we’ve got a new batch of Sammy smartphones to feast your eyes upon. Now for the downside: today’s announcement is meant only to whet your appetite for their official unveiling at IFA in Berlin. Fortunately, however, we do have a few tidbits to share. First, the Galaxy W features a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen, a 1.4GHz CPU and 14.4Mbps HDSPA connectivity. Along with that, we’ll see the M Pro, Y and Y Pro coming next week from Samsung — all running Gingerbread. If these letters are unfamiliar to you, they should be. You see, along with the phones themselves, [...]

Google announced Chromebooks, and unveiled the Samsung Chromebook and the Acer Chromebook at the second day of Google I/O 2011 earlier today. Along with that, their came a very interesting announcement that Google is working on – the Google Chromebox. This Samsung-built Chromebox will provide the same Chrome OS experience on your desktop, more like Mac Min, but it will have the web-centric Chrome OS for desktops. No solid details available at the moment, but soon we’ll have something to share as it gets revealed with time. It seems this was just a prototype that Smasung is working on [...]
