A fake, but interesting video of the iPhone 5 being unboxed has been posted on Youtube. The video is just a minute or so in length and shows two guys sneaking around an Apple office where they find an iPhone 5 and unbox it.
There’s no real reason to believe this is a real iPhone 5 at all for a number of reasons. First, the whole setup just isn’t quite right in that an old Mac with an iPhone 5 screensaver is on the desk. Also, notice the battery icon is showing that the device is currently being charged when there’s clearly no cable attached to it.
Either way, a bit of fun and [...]
A German court has weighed in on Apple’s seemingly interminable patent battle against Samsung and it isn’t looking good for the Galaxy Tab. In a ruling issued today, a Dusseldorf Higher Regional Court upheld last month’s preliminary injunction, banning the sale and promotion of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 within Germany. Citing the slate’s “minimalist, modern form,” presiding judge Johanna Brueckner-Hoffmann determined that Samsung’s tablet bears a “clear impression of similarity” with the iPad 2, thereby meriting a nationwide ban. “The court [...]
It looks like Apple’s patent spat with Samsung has now reached the land of the rising sun. Reuters is reporting that Cupertino is taking the Korean manufacturer to court in Japan, over alleged patent violations pertaining to the iPhone and iPad. Japan’s Kyodo news agency first reported the news, citing unnamed insiders who claim that Apple is looking to halt sales of Samsung’s allegedly patent-infringing Galaxy S smartphones, while seeking ¥100 million (about $1.3 million) in damages. According to the sources, the first hearing was held in a Tokyo District Court on Wednesday, [...]
Well, you can’t say Cupertino isn’t being consistent. Just like last time, Apple’s gone and released a new beta of iOS 5, less than two weeks after the last one. Not much of interest pops out of build 9A5313E’s release notes, but we’d presume it squashes a fair share of bugs. Hit up settings to begin the roughly 70MB OTA update, or test those browser downloading skills at the dev portal linked below. And while you’re there, don’t forget to snag updated versions of Xcode, iTunes, and an updated firmware for the second-generation AppleTV. Peep a screenshot [...]
An Apple employee reportedly lost an iPhone 5 prototype in a San Francisco bar, one year after the exact same thing happened.
CNET is reporting that an “unreleased device” was left in a tequila bar in the Mission district in late July and sparked a mad, yet unsuccessful, dash from Apple to reclaim the handset.
The embarrassing revelation, which is almost too bizarre to believe, is a carbon copy of last year’s incident which ended with a pre-release iPhone 4 ending up in the hands of tech blog Gizmodo.
The report claims that the device may have been sold on the Craigslist site [...]
