If you’re planning on setting up any kind of online community for your business — and who isn’t these days? — know that Facebook has begun suing to protect “the distinctive BOOK portion” of its trademark, starting with Teachbook.com.
“If others could freely use ‘generic plus BOOK’ marks for online networking services,” the company writes in its federal court case against Teachbook, “the suffix BOOK could become a generic term for ‘online community/networking services’ or ‘social networking services’.”

Just five months ago, Swype intern Franklin Page held the world record for fastest texting, which was achieved when filming a commercial for Samsung’s Omnia II handset.
Think you can do better? Get those fingers working over the phrase “the razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. [...]

When it comes to external hard drives, it’s OK to be a little superficial. WD’s new My Book Studio LX will keep you stealing glances with its aluminum, Mac-matching body and handy customizable e-label.
We trust WD’s My Books to be solid on the inside—this one comes in 1TB and 2TB capacities, has 256-bit hardware encryption and lets you plug in with FireWire 800 or USB 2.0—so a new design on the outside is always welcome.
This one is built from aluminum to compliment your Mac, and its always-on e-label lets you keep an eye on what type of files you’re storing [...]
If you bought the iPad just for its book readin’ capabilities, then Pandigital’s upcoming Novel may have you wishing Apple had a better return policy. The upcoming $200 e-reader isn’t the prettiest or fastest, but it will hold its own for its low price.
With its 7-inch full-color LCD display, Wi-Fi and the ability to run apps, the look and feel of the Novel may have you thinking of Barnes & Noble’s Nook. There’s more to that similarity, in fact — the Novel uses the Barnes & Noble e-book store, too.
What the Novel doesn’t have is the cellular [...]
Kim Jong Il, the “Dear Leader” of North Korea, does not fly when he travels. Instead, he travels around the country in one of six armored trains, stopping at any of the 19 private stations reserved just for him in the country. Not just any trains, either — Kim Jong Il has had them decked out so much that they resemble something like a military command center mixed with a luxury hotel.
From the LA Times:
Kim’s train is equipped with conference rooms, an audience chamber and bedrooms, with a pair of Mercedes-Benzes on standby, not to mention satellite phone connections and flat-screen [...]
