Apps Store Hyperwall at WWDC 2010

At WWDC 2010 Apple has erected a huge hyperwall with 30 synchronized 24-inch LED screens which display top 50,000 apps of App Store. Just in couple of minutes the hyperwall filled up with 10,800 apps downloaded worldwide. According to Apple: “This hyperwall is powered by 30 Mac Pro towers with Mac OS X Snow Leopard and EVGA NVIDIA GTX 285 graphics cards. As apps are downloaded from the App Store, their data is coalesced via an XML feed every five minutes. Apps are sorted and scheduled using Cocoa and Objective-C. How volcanic ash grounded almost every jet in Europe

A volcano in Iceland erupted yesterday, spewing a gigantic cloud of dust in the air, and with the wind blowing from the northwest, it brought air traffic in the northern parts of Europe to a halt. Jet engines can be severely damaged by the glassy silicate in that volcanic dust, leading authorities to close airports and airspace in Britain, France, and most of northern Europe.
