Android 2.4 to replace 2.3, With Same Gingerbread Name

Viewsonic has revealed Google’s plans for Android 2.4, which involve keeping the Gingerbread name and effectively replacing Android 2.3. The American company has been spilling the Android beans because it says it will be the first to release an Android 2.4-toting device, in the form of the ViewPad 4 which should be out in April. The update will allow single-core handsets to work with Honeycomb apps which have been created for dual-core devices, mainly tablets.
