Pakistan has blocked the popular video sharing website YouTube in a bid to contain blasphemous material, officials said on Thursday.
The blockade came hours after the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) directed Internet service providers to stop access to social network Facebook indefinitely on Wednesday because of an online competition to draw the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) in gross violation of fundamental human rights pertaining to one’s religion.
Wahaj-us-Siraj, the CEO of Nayatel, an Internet service provider, said PTA issued an order late on Wednesday seeking an [...]
As we know PTCL’s EVO (also called EVDO) service is out there, but reportedly it offers irregular coverage (besides Islamabad) – resulting many EVO customers returning their USB devices within 3 days.
(BTW, PTCL allows you to return EVO device with-in 3 days, in case of no signals at your home/office, or if you are not satisfied with the service – though you won’t be given cash instantly, you will have to wait for a month before you get your amount back in form of cheque)
Faisal Mehmood, has derived couple of mechanisms to increase signal strength of PTCL EVO device – following [...]

As Pakistan struggles to bring a sense of stability and security amidst daily carnage, it is important to recognize that there is more to Pakistan than meets the eyes of a casual consumer of the images and reports by the world’s media. For example, Pakistan is a developing country with functional bureaucracy, well-organized police force, democratic institutions and a powerful army. And Pakistan has more advanced infrastructure than its neighbors, including India. Among the modern infrastructure pieces in place in Pakistan are its motorway system, extensive road network, mobile telecommunications [...]
At 8 feet below sea level, Pakistan’s financial capital Karachi shows up on the list of world’s mega-cities threatened by global warming. Other South Asian cities likely to come under rising sea water in the next 100 years include Mumbai, Kolkata and Dhaka.
However, it’s not just the big cities in South Asia that will feel the brunt of the climate change. The rural folks in India are already seeing rising crop failures, increasing poverty and frequent farmer suicides.Addressing a regional conference in Islamabad earlier this year, Dr Rajendra Kumar Pachauri, chairman of the Inter-governmental [...]
