Google Maps 5.0 was released last month for all the Android devices and one the major new feature added was the 3D vector graphics. This new Google Maps 5.0 was demonstrated on a tablet for the first time by Andy Rubin on the Motorola prototype running Honeycomb at D: Dive Into Mobile – but no other tablets enjoyed Google Maps 5.0 on a big screen. We installed it on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and woah, it worked so much better than the other GPS devices. I can’t wait for vector graphics in Google Maps 5.0 to launch for every city/country.

Android users are already enjoying the Google’s free turn-by-turn satellite navigation on their phones. Unlike the paid navigation services like TomTom or CoPilot, Google’s satnav requires an active data connection when planning routes, though not while traveling. “Google Maps pre-caches the entire route,” said Mobile Maps product manager, Steve Lee. “It needs a data connection when you ask for navigation. Google ups the cool factor for Android Maps

Google has revamped its Google Maps for Android application – again – bringing a raft of cool new features to its 4.1 upgrade. The new application overhauls the UI to make things easier to see – for instance, there are no longer any tabs on the search results page, making things easier to see. You can now swipe through these results, meaning you don’t have to enter a search result, find it’s the wrong one then take time to back up to the list – a simple swipe left or right will show you the next one. Liking Latitude If you’re a fan of Latitude (we don’t [...]

Apparently, suggestions to places aren’t based on a specific characteristic. Google uses a “broad set of signals” to deliver recommendations. Google says they are working on the technology and from my experience, it’s definitely rough. For a search [...]
