We reported that the next big update of Windows Phone 7, commonly known as ‘Mango’, could ship as early as September 1st. Now, the final build of Mango, which was allegedly finalized last month, has been unexpectedly leaked to the public and is now available for download. The just-leaked RTM build’s version number is 7.10.7720.68 and can indeed be downloaded by any current Windows Phone 7 user out there, whether they’re currently on NoDo or a previous build of Mango, although the latest version of the Zune client (4.8.2134.0) will be required. A forum post over at XDA-Developers contains [...]

UK release for Dell’s Streak tablet (confirmed )

The much-talked-about Dell Streak is finally scheduled for release, albeit exclusively to the UK’s O2 network for the time being. The 5-inch touchscreen device is billed as slotting in “between traditional smartphones and larger-screen tablets” and features a 1GHz processor, 2GB of internal memory and runs on Google’s Android operating system. Dell reckons that the Streak’s “5-inch screen is large enough to present Web pages in their natural form, create a comfortable viewing experience, and make turn-by-turn navigation simple and safe.” Given [...]

Updated: HTC Legend vs HTC Desire vs Google Nexus One

The days when the T-Mobile G1 was the big cheese in the Android world are happily gone. Now, the Android OS is being used to create some truly industry leading handsets and HTC is behind some of the best. But which is the one for you to spend your hard-earned on? The Hero-a-like Legend? The insanely powerful but stupidly monikered Desire? Or do you trust your mobile dollar in Google with the Nexus One? The HTC Legend What makes a phone good? LG has announced the new Cookie Fresh GS290, another budget mobile phone to appeal to the masses. We brought you news of this phone last week, when it was first shown off at CeBIT – and now it’s been made official, which may not be the right way round for a new release. But the good news is we’ve managed to sniff out a UK release date – it will be landing on our frosty shores at the start of April. The LG Cookie Fresh will sport some basic specs – we’re talking no 3G and a 2MP camera bolted on the back. All about the media However, there is a three-inch touchscreen [...]

MWC 2010: Google Nexus One clone announced – the HTC Desire

HTC has taken Android top-end by introducing a new high-power device: the HTC Desire. Taking more than a few cues from the Google Nexus One (which was designed by HTC) the Taiwanese company has added a few embellishments to the Desire (formerly codenamed the Bravo). While the chassis remains the same size, the HTC Desire has added some physical buttons at the bottom (which are welcome after our review showed some issues with the touch-sensitivity on the Nexus One). The trackball has also been replaced by an optical version – but the main addition is the Sense UI Android overlay. Android [...]

Moto Zeppelin Android coming at MWC 2010?

Motorola really is seizing the day when it comes to Android – it seems there will be another handset based on the platform soon. Tipped to appear at Mobile World Congress next month, the new Motorola Zeppelin (unlikely to be the final name we’d imagine) looks likely to be a QWERTY-less device. Specs-wise, Mobile.cz is reporting it will be sporting a natty 5MP camera, a 3.2-inch display (although only HVGA), GPS and the MotoBlur interface to offer social networking integration right on the home screen. Mid-range marvel It’s a very thin and stylish looking device, although the [...]
