Nintendo hasn’t been too keen on letting us mere mortals stroke the Wii U, as no amount of coins could unlock the console’s cabinet at E3. Surprisingly though, Inside Games managed to get up close and personal to this white box outside its little cave, and then came home alive with a few clear shots. Mind you, there’s hardly anything exciting here: we’re just gazing at some air vents on the side and back, plus a few ports — including HDMI — on the latter. As pointed out by our brethren over at Joystiq, only time will tell whether this curvy Wii U will come [...]
Despite the popularity of the Nintendo Wii* and other gaming consoles, the PC is still a great platform for games, with millions of devoted players, and lots of new titles coming out each year. But today’s graphically complex games call for a wide variety of high-performance hardware. Choosing the right game-friendly PC can be a daunting experience, unless you know what to look for.
Some hardcore gamers build their machines at home. But the majority of us who don’t have time or just want to choose the right computer for a gaming enthusiast in our lives generally prefer [...]

Nintendo Wii users are flocking to use the BBC iPlayer – with the console making up 4 per cent of the total percentage of requests in February, overtaking the iPhone and closing in on the PlayStation 3.
The latest figures from the BBC show that Nintendo’s Wii is accounting for an increasing number of iPlayer views, moving from 2.8 million to 3.2 million views.
With the PlayStation holding steady at 6 per cent of total views, Nintendo’s console could feasibly overtake its rival if the growth continues.
The Nintendo Wii player was relaunched in November, after user complaints, and [...]
PlayStation exec Jack Tretton has insisted that the recent trend towards motion sensors will not kill the traditional gaming controllers.
The SCEA-man insisted that the arrival of Sony’s PlayStation Move, as well as the popularity of the Nintendo Wii and the forthcoming Project Natal from Microsoft, were not a threat to more traditional gaming.
“We have a 15-year heritage in this business which in some industries that is a short time, but in the game industry, it is a lifetime,” Trenton told G4 at GDC.
Accuracy
“PlayStation has come to stand for accuracy, cutting edge [...]
The Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii or the Playstation 3 – what are the specs and what can they really do…?
The Best Games Console
Many people are drawn to one camp – be it Xbox, Playstation or Nintendo and religiously stick to their camp of choice, no matter what.
Personally I think it just prevents you from enjoying the variety and brilliance the collective consoles offer.
For example Nintendo has, in my opinion, the best action/puzzle adventure game in the form of Zelda…
Playstation has some wonderful titles like Devil May Cry, God of War or Metal Gear and…
Xbox has the [...]
Sega is set to launch a new budget mini-console that features motion control built in, all for the cost of a mere £50!
Sega’s new Sega Zone is pre-packed with 20 classic Sega games including 20 classic Sega titles, like Alex Kid, Golden Axe, Sonic and Knuckles and Ecco the Dolphin and a further 30 titles, 16 of which will feature motion control.
No Wii competitor
Of course, the console is unlikely to be launched as a mainstream competitor to the Nintendo Wii or Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, but will be marketed as a budget gift for youngsters and nostalgic Sega fans.
The console will reportedly [...]
Sony is eating crow tonight as it announced it has postponed its new Motion Controller from the spring until the fall of 2010.
The new controller is a step up from the motion-sensing controller currently selling with the PlayStation 3 game console. This new wand-like device, showcased at the E3 show last June and paraded in front of fans in September, is much more accurate in its detection of body movements. Combined with a PlayStation Eye motion-sensing camera, it can thus be used in shooting, sword fighting, and other fast action games.
It was a cool demo, but few at E3 believed that Sony would [...]
In case you needed one more place to get Netflix videos, now you can use your Nintendo Wii game console to watch them.
It’s a little hard to get excited about this. Netflix is available on a wide variety of set-top boxes such as Roku, and it is being built into many connected TVs that are selling this year. It has been on the Xbox 360 game console’s Xbox Live service for more than a year, and it recently became available on the Sony PlayStation 3.
This is an odd place for Nintendo to be, since the company has generally looked down on Sony and Microsoft and their thinly disguised ambitions [...]
