We got a little worried when ITG missed its January unveiling for the xpPhone 2, but yesterday, this Windows 7-powered smartphone finally made its debut public appearance in Guangzhou, and we happened to be there to scoop up a demo unit. Since we last came across the second-gen xpPhone, its ambitious Chinese manufacturer has dished out more detailed specs: the 17.5mm-thick device comes with a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 LCD made by Sharp, multitouch input, an Intel Atom Z5xx series processor up to 2GHz, up to 2GB of RAM, up to 112GB of SSD made by Silicon Storage Technology, microSD expansion and a multipurpose [...]
I remember when last year Ufone started taking pre-orders for Nokia N8 in Pakistan. Yes I took that offer and wrote an hands-on overview. This time it’s not like that but it seems that Ufone is going to promote the beautiful Nokia N9 in Pakistan. However Nokia N9 has already been available in markets officially. I am not sure what purpose Ufone will serve for Nokia N9 now. Probably a lower price tag and a few promotional gifts?
Frankly! I am not sure but as the poster above is showing a special plan for Ufone customers which is “Call at 50 Paisas/min” if they purchase Nokia N9 with Ufone [...]
Siri’s sweet and all, but for many of us that new eight megapixel sensor and f/2.4 aperture lens are what really makes Apple’s iPhone 4S an appealing upgrade. We spent the weekend shooting around New York City with the iPhone 4S, along with some other top smartphones — the iPhone 4, Samsung Galaxy S II, Nokia N8 and HTC’s Amaze 4G — in order to determine just which phone’s camera reigns supreme. And in order to capture video and stills with consistent framing among all five devices, we secured each smartphone to that homemade quintuple cameraphone mount that [...]
These days, a phone isn’t worth having if it doesn’t have a top-notch snapper strapped to its back.
We’ve rounded up the crème de la crème of camera phones and delved a little deeper than simple megapixels to establish what handsets should be on any self-respecting mo-pho’s (mobile photographer’s) wishlist.
Here are our recommended 10 best camera phones for 2010.
1. Nokia N8
Nokia is fond of using a snazzy Carl Zeiss lens to lend credibility to its camera-phones and the Nokia N8 is no exception.
Its massive image sensor (the biggest of any smartphone currently [...]
On a hair-raising morning commute, Slumdog Millionaire‘s Dev Patel encounters a gun-toting traffic cop, ninja bankers, and… Chuck Bass. It’s eight minutes of slick, silly fun, and it was shot entirely on a smartphone. That’s right; “The Commuter” was written and directed by Edward and Rory McHenry, features plenty of recognizable faces, and the only camera used was a Nokia N8. Plenty impressive! Now let’s put that camera on a phone we might actually want to use some day.
The day which many UK based Android lovers, particularly ones with an intention to purchase the desirable HTC Desire HD, have been waiting for has finally arrived. Vodafone UK has started selling the big brother of HTC Desire.
Here is the official yet short announcement:
Vodafone customers can now buy two of the hottest new smartphones on the market, the HTC Desire HD and the Nokia N8, both of which are available now on the UK’s best network.
Here’s how the price plan stands:
The HTC Desire HD is available free on £35, 24 month price plans and customers buying the device online will [...]
The Nokia N8 launch might have been pushed back more times than a slow-but-relentless zombie, but it seems its appearance might be imminent.
The N8 has now popped up on online e-tailer MobileFun, and the chaps from that neck of the woods have stated the UK release date is 26 August, with a higher-than-previously-quoted £420 price point.
Given the Nokia N8 is supposed to be launching at ‘some point’ in Q3, time is running out for the Finnish firm to actually release the phone, but we’re loathe to believe we’ll definitely be able to purchase on from 26 August as some [...]

Its prototype might not have been found in a bar, but the leaks and rumors surrounding the Nokia N8 can now be put to bed following official outing of the new smartphone. The N8 is the first device to be powered by Nokia’s new Symbian^3 platform, and the company believes that it will put some dedicated point-and-shoot cameras to shame with its 12MP camera featuring Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash. The N8 can also record videos in HD and edit them with built-in software. It also has an HDMI connector that allows users to display media on HD-equipped TVs and listen in Dolby Digital [...]
Nokia was once my favourite mobile phone choice, but due to their several last high-end failures, I have now moved away from Nokia to others. Nokia N8 photos and documents have been leaked earlier, but Eldar Murtazin of Mobile-Review has got his hands on the device for review.
According to the Nokia N8 review by him, it could be another disappointment for Nokia fans. It’s got 12 megapixels camera, which take great photos – a bit better than the Sony Ericsson Satio, but what’s most disappointing is the new Symbian^3 OS.
Nokia N8 will be the first device to run on the Symbian^3, but [...]
