O2 dubbed best mobile broadband provider

O2 has been voted the best mobile broadband provider in an independent survey by JD power. The bubbly brand beat off competition from Orange and T-Mobile to be dubbed top dog, with a customer satisfaction score of 653 out of a possible 1,000. Orange was close behind with 650, and T-Mobile managed 644, on a scale that measured performance, reliability, cost, offers and promotions and customer service. Next Apple iPhone in summer, states WSJ

Apple is working on the next generation of iPhone, according to the Wall Street Journal, and could be developing a special edition for US network Verizon. Although it was widely expected that another year would see a fourth version of Apple’s popular iPhone, the WSJ’s story will ramp up the excitement ahead of the US iPad launch at the weekend. BBC News and Sport iPhone apps face delay

The BBC’s big push on to the iPhone is facing a delay, after the BBC Trust announced it is reviewing the broadcaster’s mobile-based proposals. The BBC made headlines last month, when it announced it was to launch free apps for its News and Sports service. Both BBC News and BBC Sports Results are to be updated feeds of the broadcaster’s web pages, with the sports app to offer real-time data of Premiership football matches and the like. Mobile phone boarding passes increase by 1,200%

The amount of consumers using mobile phone boarding passes has dramatically risen, with one company quoting a 1,200 per cent increase. UK-based company Trinity Mobile is reporting that it has found that more and more people are using its phone-only boarding pass service, which negates the need for paper passes. Instead of security scanning your boarding pass, they can do it straight from your phone. When this service is offered, Trinity Mobile found that 600,000 people chose to opt-in in 2009, compared to a mere 50,000 in 2008. Qualcomm has announced that it will be showing off its FLO enabled smartbook applications at MWC, uniting Live TV viewing with ‘real-time Web content, social networking capabilities and personalized digital media stored on the device that can be accessed at anytime’. Opera Mini will be shown running on an iPhone at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this month, although the company have yet to get the application through Apple’s rigorous vetting process.
