Surfaces. Turns out, the plural form of Microsoft’s new tablet range rolls off of the tongue with ease, but understanding the differences between the first two models may not be quite as easy — particularly for the everyman, or folks intimately familiar with Microsoft’s other Surface. Two editions — Surface for Windows RT and Surface for Windows 8 Pro — were unveiled today in Los Angeles, and while the exterior of each one looks nearly identical, the innards expose major differences in architecture. Let’s break it all down after the break, shall we?

It was only a matter of time before Acer let out the pricing / availability details on its dual-core Atom netbook, and as we could have predicted, the Taiwanese company’s smacked an extremely enticing pricetag on this one. Ringing up at an aggressive $329.99, the 2.2-pound D255 looks almost identical to the D260 — yes, even those with the worst of cataracts could tell it’s an Aspire One from afar — but in terms of specs it’s got that notable difference of a brand new dual-core Atom N550 processor. But not to worry, even though it’s now the cheapest dual-core [...]

Here are the retail prices for WiFi iPad models in China:
16GB: CNY3988
32GB: CNY4788
64GB: CNY5588
The retail prices for iPads in China are only marginally higher than their US counterparts. We foresee great success for iPad in the Chinese market, but you can never be too sure. [...]

Apple has decided to keep the UK pricing of the iPad under lock and key but that hasn’t stopped one third-party retailer from possibly blurting out a price for the company’s tablet computer.
Play.com has been listed on Google Products as selling the Apple iPad for the UK price of £499 for the 16GB version and a whopping £699 for the bigger 64GB version.
Dollars and sense
There is no word whether this is official pricing, but even if it is the e-tailer’s guess-work (and let’s be fair it is only swapping the dollars sign for pounds) we trust its judgement more than most, [...]
When Apple [AAPL] announced their new iPad we didn’t see anything on the UK Apple website until a couple of days later, now Apple has updated their site and confirmed when the iPad will be available in the UK.
Although Apple still hasn’t released any pricing information for the UK as yet, the iPad will probably be slightly more expensive in the UK. In the US the base model will retail for $499, this would translate to £315 at todays exchange rate, but the UK version will probably retail for around £399 for the base model.

A new development in the Amazon vs. Macmillan fiasco. Amazon just posted an announcement indicating that it will be “capitulating” to Macmillan by selling the publishers’ books for their desired prices.
Macmillan is trying to price their e-books at $15, while Amazon prices e-books at $9.99. Macmillan’s CEO John Sargent said that unless Amazon sets the price of new e-books to $15, the publisher will not distribute new books to Amazon when they are released. On Friday, Amazon basically banned titles, both paper and digital, published by Macmillan by refusing to directly sell [...]
