An Apple employee reportedly lost an iPhone 5 prototype in a San Francisco bar, one year after the exact same thing happened.
CNET is reporting that an “unreleased device” was left in a tequila bar in the Mission district in late July and sparked a mad, yet unsuccessful, dash from Apple to reclaim the handset.
The embarrassing revelation, which is almost too bizarre to believe, is a carbon copy of last year’s incident which ended with a pre-release iPhone 4 ending up in the hands of tech blog Gizmodo.
The report claims that the device may have been sold on the Craigslist site [...]
Google announced Chromebooks, and unveiled the Samsung Chromebook and the Acer Chromebook at the second day of Google I/O 2011 earlier today.
Along with that, their came a very interesting announcement that Google is working on – the Google Chromebox. This Samsung-built Chromebox will provide the same Chrome OS experience on your desktop, more like Mac Min, but it will have the web-centric Chrome OS for desktops.
No solid details available at the moment, but soon we’ll have something to share as it gets revealed with time. It seems this was just a prototype that Smasung is working on [...]
Folks at M.I.C gadget has posted the photos and video of 64GB iPhone 4 prototype which they got from the grey market in Hong Kong.
According to the source:
“We are not sure, but we’ve just got our hands on an engineered prototype of iPhone 4, with 64 GB storage capacity. We tested it, and it is the real thing, no jokes here. On the back of the device, it has “XXGB” marking, representing the unit as potential Apple prototypes.
However, we found out that the device is very similar to the lost iPhone 4 prototype bought by Gizmodo”

Google Maps 5.0 was released last month for all the Android devices and one the major new feature added was the 3D vector graphics.
This new Google Maps 5.0 was demonstrated on a tablet for the first time by Andy Rubin on the Motorola prototype running Honeycomb at D: Dive Into Mobile – but no other tablets enjoyed Google Maps 5.0 on a big screen.
We installed it on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and woah, it worked so much better than the other GPS devices. I can’t wait for vector graphics in Google Maps 5.0 to launch for every city/country.

The $35 Android tablet we talked about the other day is only the beginning, it would seem, as yet another Indian tablet maker is preparing to unleash a purportedly low-cost, full featured device on the masses. Meet Allgo:
She’s a prototype for now, and the $50 price tag is only the cost to build one (retail will be higher), but nevertheless the trend toward seemingly mass-produced, throw-away tablets is closer today than it was yesterday.
Here’s quick demo of the unit from back in April:
What little we know of the Allgo comes from Techie Buzz, which is reporting this weekend [...]
AndroidGuys has photos of a 4″ HTC slider set to land on Verizon sometime in 2011. That’s a ways away, but if the speculated 1.2GHz processor and CDMA and GSM compatability are for real, it’s worth getting excited about.
The prototype, they say, was sporting a Vodafone SIM card, suggesting it could be an elusive Android world phone. AndroidGuys speculates that it’s packing a 1.2GHz processor under its 4″ screen and four-row sliding hardware keyboard.
2011 is a ways out, so plenty could change before this red-hot Android hits retail. But for the time being you [...]
