LG Optimus G : 1.5GHz quad-core CPU, ICS, LTE, 4.7-inch screen with in-cell touch

LG has been teasing its upcoming Optimus G smartphone for weeks after promising LTE phones that would be “second to none” and now we finally have the full specs. When it arrives in Korea next month it will be the first with LTE mounted to a quad-core CPU, thanks to the 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 at its center. The display is also groundbreaking, featuring LG’s fully integrated touch technology — sounds like its new in-cell touch to us –for a thinner screen and bezel. It’s a True HD (1280 x 768) IPS LCD, and LG claims when it’s turned off the 3mm [...]

HTC Edge may be the first quad-core smartphone to market

Color us skeptical on this one, but rumors are coming down the pipeline about an HTC phone called the Edge. It’s supposedly going to be the first Tegra 3-powered smartphone. According to Pocketnow, the device will supposedly offer a quad-core 1.5GHz CPU, 4.7-inch 720p HD display, 1GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera with f/2.2 lens and Beats Audio. Curiously, no LTE capability was mentioned specifically, though 21Mbps HSPA+ appears to be good to go, and there’s a slight possibility of Sense 4.0 being included — which given its proposed launch window of late Q1 / early Q2 2012, wouldn’t [...]

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9

Overview The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is one of the best tablets yet released. Taking a lesson from the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and adding a few features beyond what the Apple iPad 2 offers, this thin, light and longer-lasting tablet is the best option around if you’re more interested in portability than in playing games and watching movies on a 10-inch screen. The slightly smaller size is also a better fit for reading books, browsing the web and checking email. Some might wonder why this model even exists. After all, there’s a slew of 7-inch tablets available, including the Acer Iconia [...]

HTC Amaze 4G With 1.5GHz dual-core CPU

The only images we’ve seen of the upcoming HTC Ruby Amaze 4G, the high-powered smartphone inbound for T-Mobile, have left us eager for more substance; few pictures show the phone powered on, and even those offer no visual evidence of its rockin’ specs. Our thirst for more info about the beast has been slightly more quenched, as Droid Sans snapped some pics of the prototype proudly displayed at a public gathering. From what we can tell by the snapshots, the device’s “about” screen confirms the presence of a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 4.3-inch qHD display and [...]

Review: HTC Flyer

HTC has always stood out among the raft of Android phone manufacturers. The company’s been partnering with Google since the start, but still forges its own style, which has won it a lot of fans. Now that Android is a major tablet OS, with Android 3.0 appearing on the likes of the Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1V, HTC is still staying separate from the crowd. Our colleagues at T3.com grabbed some HTC Flyer video footage which you can watch below. The most notable change from the norm is the 7-inch screen and the touchscreen stylus, known officially as the Magic Pen. It connects wirelessly [...]
