NVIDIA has revealed its new range of Fermi-based Quadro GPUs that the company says deliver performance that is up to five times faster for 3D applications and up to eight times faster for computational simulation. The Quadro Plex 7000 Array is a complete system solution capable of displaying up to 36 megapixels across eight displays, whereas the Quadro 6000, Quadro 5000 and Quadro 4000 GPUs are aimed at desktops and workstations. They are all compatible with NVIDIA’s new 3D Vision Pro active-shutter glasses solution, incorporate the new NVIDIA Scalable Geometry Engine and take advantage [...]
Remember last month when we told you about the Federal Communications Commission’s vague plans to deliver 100Mbps broadband (over 20 times as fast as we have now) into American homes? Well, the FCC isn’t letting the plan fall by the wayside.
The agency has released an executive summary ahead of its official presentation to congress, and right now the plan calls for a rather staggering sum (and it’s just an estimate, mind you): $350 billion. Granted, relaying the infrastructure for the Information super highway is much like paving a real one, but a sum like that raises some ire.

The Adamo XPS is a daring slice of design and engineering. Quite frankly, it’s batshit insane.
I mean that in the best possible way.
It really is impossibly thin. I felt like I was holding a single sheet of aluminum that was contoured into the curved shape of a laptop. I set it down, gingerly, because I didn’t want to break it, since I didn’t know at the moment that it was $1800. My finger slid across the latch to disengage the heat-sensitive capacitive latch.
There was no visible sign my stroke was the lucky one, so I waited a second before prying the top half upward. [...]
