Review: HTC Sensation

HTC has gone from being an unknown manufacturer for bigger brands to one spewing out leading Android smartphones. The Desire was a landmark phone in the fight against the iPhone, but now tech has moved up a level – can the HTC Sensation stay at the sharp end? With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S2, the Motorola Atrix and (to a degree) the LG Optimus 2X, dual-core phones have become the darling of the tech enthusiast. HTC Sensation vs Samsung Galaxy S2 – which is right for you? And HTC has recognised that in bringing out a phone that ticks all the boxes for the most sought-after [...]

Review: Sony Ericsson Xperia Play

The PlayStation phone is the device equivalent of El Dorado, in that it’s spent a long time as a golden fable to trot out when conversation slows. Now the fusion of gamepad and Android phone has emerged into the modern world in the form of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. It’s a time when iPhones have permeated the globe, able to deliver tactile gaming on the go, and Nintendo’s 3DS is making waves by bringing portable 3D fun to the masses. Even within the Sony stable, the Xperia Play has rivals to overcome. There’s the NGP, successor to the PSP, on the horizon, which [...]

Review: Acer Stream

We’ve seen a number of smartphones launched this year from Acer including beTouch models running Android and neoTouch models running Windows Mobile. There has also been the Liquid E, an Android 2.1 upgrade of an earlier handset which we thought had potential but which failed to live up to its billing. Alongside the essentials of 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS, we have a nice large 3.7-inch AMOLED screen with an 800 x 480 pixel resolution, 1GHz processor, 720p video recording, HDMI out, a 5-megapixel [...]

HTC Legend gets UK release date

The HTC Legend has been given a UK release date for later this month – despite not having any confirmed operator support. Clove Technology is offering the HTC Legend for just £320 SIM-free (£376 including VAT), and the phone will be shipped on 23 March. This is in advance of the mooted April release date, so consumers can get their hands on the first phone to run Android 2.1 in the UK earlier than previously thought. Vodafone exclusive? We’ve yet to hear which operators will be stocking the HTC Legend as yet, but the likelihood is it will come to Vodafone as an exclusive. The network [...]
