And with that, the tradition continues. Every year or so, it seems that an iPhone prototype of some description manages to find its way onto eBay, and just over a year after the first iPhone 4 prototype made its way into public view, the precious item you see above is now available on a public auction site. To our knowledge, this is the first iPhone 4 prototype to be offered for sale on eBay — at least from someone who actually appears to be legitimate and in possession of the device he / she claims to own — boasting an etched ‘DF1692′ label in the lower right, omitted [...]
At work we have several websites that we develop with Plone, but each year we make a new version and we want to keep an archive of the old version.
Since it takes a lot of memory to keep a Zope instance for these old websites that probably won’t need to be edited ever again, it makes sense to make a static copy of the website. It also eliminates the work needed to update the instance when security patches come out (and eliminates security risks, in cases of old versions that are no more maintained).
There are some tools that can help in this case; I chose to use wget, which is available [...]
Microsoft’s $8.5 billion acquisition of Skype hasn’t closed yet, but it looks like Redmond is already working behind the scenes to make the service even more ubiquitous. According to some anonymous sources interviewed by TechCrunch, Facebook is going to introduce video chat next week, and that service will be powered by none other than Skype. And while the service will be browser-based, it’s also said to include a desktop component. We’d say none of that sounds too fantastical — video calls would be a logical extension of Facebook chat, and let’s not [...]
At this week’s SMX, Rand made a comment about two big brands that ranked at #2 and #3 for their industry’s generic keyword behind an exact match domain. Referring to SERPs Click-Through-Rate data, he suggested that you could calculate how much more traffic the larger brand could receive from the keyword by moving from position 2 to position 1.
At the risk of getting a stern talking to, I’m going to have to ask: really? I’m confident that where you see a well-known brand’s site next to an anonymous brand, the recognised name will get a disproportionate number [...]

The Winklevoss twins have decided to end their legal battle with Mark Zuckerberg over claims that the CEO/Founder of Facebook stole the idea of the social networking site from them.
It’s a bit of long story, this legal battle. It all started in 2003-04 when Mark Zuckerberg launched TheFacebook. The Winklevoss twins – Cameron and Tyler (Mark’s classmates at Harvard University) – claimed that Zuckerberg stole the idea of a on-campus-only social networking site from them. And so started a 7 year long legal battle which was the basis of the popular 2010 movie The Social Network.

Among SEO professionals, there isn’t always consensus on precisely which and to what degree site factors contribute or detract from rankings on Google because the factors actually vary by industry. There are indeed, a number of contentious issues: markup and content quality, use of title tags, site organization and even arguments that Google Analytics data factors in to site rankings. Not likely (yet), but certainly up for debate among SEO professionals.
However, there are some Google ranking factors that most professionals agree affect site positioning on Google SERPs. However, these [...]

Content theft is one of the biggest problems faced by many webmasters nowadays, some claim that content theft is not something to be worried about as search engines tend to give the original content more value over others, but still there are some occasions where I found duplicate contents rank high over original contents, especially the site which duplicated your content has high PR and old domain name, there are also cases where people tend to steal your pics and its url and use it on their site which might very well play a role on your over all bandwidth. So in order to avoid these [...]
Hacking collective LulzSec has decided to stop giving online gaming sites a hard time and instead put its efforts into taking down the CIA’s website and the FBI’s phone network.
Yesterday the group managed to DDoS the CIA’s homepage and along with it the FBI’s phone network in Detroit.
As per usual LulzSec kept everyone updated with its hacking shenanigans on Twitter, posting on the site: “Tango down – CIA.Gov- for the lulz.”.
According to reports, it wasn’t just the CIA and the FBI, either – the US Senate’s website was also a target, [...]
