We’ve got great news for owners of the HTC Sensation: a new ROM has been released for the smartphone which, basically, makes proper use of its dual-core processing power making the overall user experience a whole lot smoother.
Developed by Team Revolution, the Android Revolution HD ROM for HTC Sensation was revealed today on the popular Android hacking forum XDA-Developers. The ROM is based on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.
We could talk endlessly about the little, under-the-hood changes made by Team Revolution, but it really is sufficient to know that Android Revolution HD for HTC Sensation essentially [...]
Samsung sold three million of its original Galaxy S phone in 85 days. A few months later, a full ten million had been moved. Now, it looks as if the superphone’s proper successor may put that latter statistic to shame. The outfit just announced that it took but 55 days to move three million Galaxy S II handsets, which works out to one phone every 1.5 seconds. It’s Sammy’s briskest-selling smartphone ever, and we’re guessing that it’ll keep up the pace once that AT&T variant lands on US soil. Which is coming soon, right Samsung?
Rumors surrounding the successor to the Nexus S are heating up! A report from BGR claims that the superphone will be titled “Nexus Prime” and will release sometime near Thanksgiving this year.
Two weeks back, Goncalo wrote on BGR’s earlier report on the next version of the Nexus series of smartphones. In that report, it was said that the phone would be called Nexus 4G and would possess some seriously mind-blowing specs: a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, a 720p display, 4G LTE connectivity, Android 4.0 “Ice Cream” and, probably, a battery life in the negative.
In today’s [...]
Specs for what could be the Google Nexus 3 have surfaced, revealing a dual-core behemoth running Ice Cream Sandwich, with a “monster-sized” screen.
The leak comes by way of BGR, whose source revealed that the handset, dubbed the Google Nexus 4G for the Yanks, will come with a dual-core 1.2GHz or 1.5GHz OMAP 4460 or Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
That “monster-sized” display will be a 720p HD affair, along with 1080p HD video capture through the 5MP rear-mounted camera with superior low-light capabilities.
Bye bye buttons
It’s goodbye to buttons on the next Nexus [...]
Samsung’s Galaxy S II superphone didn’t have many issues to begin with, and we’re hearing there’s one fewer annoying quirk today — Android Community reports that a new firmware update (available via Kies) addresses the overzealous auto-brightness setting that continually irked us during testing. The i9100XWKE2 revision also apparently increases the responsiveness of the Swype software keyboard — which is always a plus — so unless this update also fries handsets or something, it sounds like a desirable one.
UK phone retailer Phones 4u has scooped itself a short-term but enviable exclusive — it’ll be the only place in the UK where you’ll be able to buy Samsung’s Galaxy S II in April. The 1.2GHz dual-core Android superphone has already been announced for wide availability in the Queen’s Kingdom on May 1st, but Phones 4u will get you one as early as April 27th, plus it’ll throw in a free 8GB microSD card if you pre-order one now. The Galaxy S II will be available for £499 On Pay as you go and free on two-year contracts costing £35 per month and above and there’ll [...]
Samsung has just delivered a most welcome (and concrete) bit of news for British smartphone lovers. Its next do-it-all Android superphone will be available on May 1st in the United Kingdom. The Galaxy S II will emulate its predecessor by being made available “across all major networks and retailers.” The press release promises a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, which indicates we’re looking at the Exynos 4210 variant of this handset. We’ll try to track down availability information for the rest of Europe, but at least Brits can now stop fretting about the delay / non-delay [...]
Not interested in waiting until the 23rd for Verizon’s big announcement? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered right now! The Motorola Droid X has probably been one of the worst kept smartphone secrets in recent memory, but after spending two hours with the phone we sort of see why. In short, it’s pretty awesome. Call it a superphone or a mega-smartphone, but the 4.4-inch handset is absolutely Verizon / Motorola’s answer to the HTC EVO 4G, and makes the Droid Incredible look like a bench warmer. What do we mean? We’ll let you see for yourself just after [...]
Google is now stocking car docks for its Nexus One ‘superphone’, utilising the phone’s turn-by-turn navigation to turn it into a sat nav.
Although the Nexus One has yet to go on sale in the UK, Google is keen to push the benefits of its HTC built smartphone.
The Nexus One: Car Dock has built in speakers and volume controls to add a little volume and control to the driver and comes with the Car Home app which loads automatically.
“The Nexus One Car Dock is the perfect place to put your phone when you’re in the car,” says Google’s Nexus One page. [...]
