LG Optimus G : 1.5GHz quad-core CPU, ICS, LTE, 4.7-inch screen with in-cell touch

LG has been teasing its upcoming Optimus G smartphone for weeks after promising LTE phones that would be “second to none” and now we finally have the full specs. When it arrives in Korea next month it will be the first with LTE mounted to a quad-core CPU, thanks to the 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 at its center. The display is also groundbreaking, featuring LG’s fully integrated touch technology — sounds like its new in-cell touch to us –for a thinner screen and bezel. It’s a True HD (1280 x 768) IPS LCD, and LG claims when it’s turned off the 3mm [...]

Is this the Samsung Galaxy S3?

The rumours, leaks and speculation on the Samsung Galaxy S3 are never ending and we’ve laid eyes on extremely suspicious spy shots from a Chinese website. The latest shots offer up a handset quite different to what has been talked about thus far. It sports a peculiar S-shaped bend in the 4.6-inch 3D screen which looks to be highly un-ergonomic, but hey maybe it’s the future. It also suggests the 3D screen will use Super AMOLED Plus technology and have a 1280 x 720 resolution. Our question though, how does 3D work on such a ridiculously curved display? Pigs will fly Further inspection [...]

Not surprisingly, it is reported that Apple is looking into using this technology, recently filing two patents incorporating the cells.

Review: LG Prada 3.0

The new LG Prada 3.0 (or PRADA phone by LG 3.0, if the fashion house has anything to do with it) is a ‘fashion phone’ that actually ticks more than a few tech boxes as well. When most people hear about designer tie-ins with technology, they think of lame devices with a logo smeared all over it – but in this case, it’s actually a decent phone in its own right. The Prada 3 has a large amount of synergy with the LG Optimus 3D, bringing the same OMAP 1GHz dual-core, dual-channel processor but ramping it up with 1GB of RAM, rather than the measly 512MB on offer previously. We’re [...]

So, you’re looking at that one photo you took, and wishing that the flower in the foreground was in focus instead of the person behind it? Well it’s no big deal, just go in and shift the focus. California-based Lytro, Inc. announced today that its consumer light field camera is now available for preorder, and should be shipping early next year. It is the first camera of its kind made for the general public. Light field cameras use a microlens array and a light field sensor to separately record the color, [...]

WiFi hunter-killer drone – SkyNET

You’d think scientists would proscribe certain names for their inventions — you wouldn’t be taken seriously if your supercomputer was called HAL 9000, WOPR or Proteus IV would you? Well, a team from the Stevens Institute of Technology isn’t listening, because it’s developing an aerial drone and calling it SkyNET. A Linux box, strapped to a Parrot A.R. Drone, can fly within range of your home wireless network and electronically attack it from the air. Whilst internet-only attacks are traceable to some extent, drone attacks are difficult to detect until it’s too [...]
