Unnamed Samsung exec says quad-core Exynos inside Galaxy S III, LTE on-chip

An unnamed Samsung exec hinted to the Korea Times that its upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S III, will include a next-gen quad-core Exynos chip that will incorporate LTE and WCDMA radios. Of course, such a revelation shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise since both its predecessors were built around home grown silicon… at least originally. According to the source, Sammy is trying to become more self reliant and distance itself from Qualcomm which has provided single-chip solutions for a number of the manufacturer’s high-end handsets. The new AP appears to be the 32nm slab of [...]

According to software engineer Leon Dubinsky, the app will highlight the multitouch awesomeness of the iPad, something that’s unavailable from the website alone even from a touchscreen device. The folks at FB also added that some of the newly released features will be integrated [...]

Israel buys @israel Twitter account

Israel has finally got itself a Twitter account, after it bought the @israel profile for a reported six figures. The account was owned by Israel Meléndez, a Spaniard who resides in the US and is the owner of Greenshines, a Spanish pornography site. The exact amount the handle was bought for is unknown but the New York Times is reporting that Meléndez managed to get six figures out of the country. Not bad for an account he signed up for in 2007 and didn’t actually do that much with. Putting it to better use “My account was basically unused because I was getting dozens of replies [...]

Instead, he travels around the country in one of six armored trains, stopping at any of the 19 private stations reserved just for him in the country. Not just any trains, either — Kim Jong Il has had them decked out so much that they resemble something like a military command center mixed with a luxury hotel. From the LA Times: Kim’s train is equipped with conference rooms, an audience chamber and bedrooms, with a pair of Mercedes-Benzes on standby, not to mention satellite phone connections and flat-screen [...]

Former NYT reporter sleeps on street, eats out of garbage cans

“Hate Man,” a homeless fellow who lives on Berkeley’s Telegraph Avenue, wears cast-off women’s clothing, and eats out of garbage cans (because “It’s free [and it] makes your immune system strong”), once worked as a reporter for the New York Times. Actually, he wrote at the Times from 1961 to 1970, nearly an entire decade. Back then, he was known as Mark Hawthorne. Why the identity change? Snip from his interview with Kevin Fagan at the San Francisco Chronicle: Q: You require people to say “I hate you” before you begin a conversation. Do you [...]
