According to Giga Tweet count, twitter surpassed 20 billion tweets milestone and its continuously accelerating. Although, twitter did not confirmed it officially but the figure to hit 20 billion tweets seems quite valid, as twitter’s activity was boosted at high pitch during World Cup and twitter’s old statement to hit 20 million tweets per day is also an other indication towards twitter’s recent achievement.
