Review: ViewSonic ViewPad 10Pro

Overview The ViewSonic ViewPad 10Pro has a confusing name, operates much like a Microsoft Tablet PC from years ago and, while the concept of a “dual boot” tablet sounds appealing, it actually just runs Android 2.2 in Windows 7. However, the ViewPad 10Pro has a few interesting perks that could line up well with the needs of some users, especially those in a corporate setting. The most important one is battery life. The 10Pro lasts for over eight hours, which is twice as long as the first ViewPad model, the ViewPad 10s. That means, for mobile pros who need to run Windows apps and switch [...]

Android 2.4 to replace 2.3, With Same Gingerbread Name

Viewsonic has revealed Google’s plans for Android 2.4, which involve keeping the Gingerbread name and effectively replacing Android 2.3. The American company has been spilling the Android beans because it says it will be the first to release an Android 2.4-toting device, in the form of the ViewPad 4 which should be out in April. The update will allow single-core handsets to work with Honeycomb apps which have been created for dual-core devices, mainly tablets. The rumour does level with news from last week which suggested that the next Android release would bring bits of Honeycomb [...]

ViewSonic ViewPad 7 and 10 Coming to America

ViewSonic’s heavy foray into the tablet market has been no secret, but we’ve been a bit uncertain as to where on the map its products would land. Until now that is. According to ViewSonic’s American team, the company will be kicking off its US tablet invasion with the ViewPad 7 in November. Just as we’d heard, the 7-inch device packs an Snapdragon processor, Android 2.2, two cameras (a 3 megapixel cam on its rear and a VGA front facing one), 512MB of memory and 3G capabilities. Sure, it sounds a heck of a lot like the rest of the other Android tablets we’ve [...]

ViewSonic’s 10-inch G Tablet with Android 2.2 and NVIDIA Tegra 2

Don’t blink — you might just mistake ViewSonic’s new G Tablet for the ViewPad that we handled back at IFA. This guy, however, packs a very different list of internal specifications in a 10-inch tablet form factor that’s beginning to look all too familiar. Showcased for the first time last night in New York City, this guy dumps Intel’s Atom in favor of NVIDIA’s Tegra 2, and rather than booting a pair of operating systems, it relies solely on Android 2.2 — a mobile OS that Google has specifically said isn’t tailored for use on [...]

Viewsonic Mini-PC

ViewSonic has announced U.S. availability for its new handy VOT125 mini-PC. Coming with a quartet of ultra-low-voltage processor options from Intel to help cut down on power draw and benefiting from Windows 7 Home Premium, its petite dimensions may well see the unit being squeezed into the tightest nook of limited home and office space. ViewSonic is obviously hoping to tap into the eco-friendly home/business computing market, as they note that the VOT125 “uses up to 90 percent less plastic and consumes up to 90 percent less energy than traditional tower PCs.” Making room for [...]

Review: Viewsonic VG2427WM

The Viewsonic VG2427WM is a 24-inch monitor with a true 16:9 aspect ratio that makes full use of its 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution. The matt-black bezel around the screen is small and largely inconspicuous, but the screen does have an overall office feel about the design. Setting up the monitor is simply a case of pulling it from the large box and adding the right cables. This is because Viewsonic has already attached the monitor stand to the screen. This stand offers full height adjustment, screen tilt and pitch and even swivel modes, so getting the VG2427wm into the right position is easy. The [...]
