The Apple iPad has gone on sale in the US, with thousands flocking to get their hands on one of this 2010′s most eagerly anticipated gadgets.
People who pre-ordered the tablet computer were able to pick up their gadgets at Apple stores across the country, scenes that will be repeated in the UK in less than a month’s time.
With positive early reviews, which nevertheless stopped short of calling the device the revolution that it hopes to be, the buzz around Apple’s latest product is not likely to die down any time soon.

Amazon.com Inc has struck two new deals with major book publishers on the pricing of e-books
The Wall Street Journal reports this week that CBS Corp’s Simon & Schuster and News Corp’s HarperCollins will set their own prices for e-books on Amazon.com

Selected new best sellers will be priced at $9.99 (£6.55), though most new e-books will be priced between $12.99 (£8.52) to $14.99 (£9.83).
Most older e-books on Amazon.com from the two publishers will cost less than $9.99.

The Wall Street Journal reported this morning that Apple has two phones in the works: one is probably the super-fancy next-gen model that info has already been trickling out about, and the other is rumored to have a CDMA chip in it. That’d let it hop on over to AT&T competitors, including Verizon and Sprint.

Apple is set to launch the new iPad this coming Easter weekend in the US with a new update to iTunes also set to arrive around the time of launch.
The latest iTunes updates should arrive on Saturday according to MacRumors, bringing a few small changes to the iTunes Store’s categories, improving the Genius Mix feature and altering the device management interface. Presumably to cope with an iPad being plugged into your Mac or PC.

Apple is working on the next generation of iPhone, according to the Wall Street Journal, and could be developing a special edition for US network Verizon.
Although it was widely expected that another year would see a fourth version of Apple’s popular iPhone, the WSJ’s story will ramp up the excitement ahead of the US iPad launch at the weekend.
