A lot of users have been sending me in messages lately for a guide on how to root a Samsung Galaxy S with Android 2.2.1 Froyo. The one click root method doesn’t work anymore so you have to put in a little more effort to root your phone now.
Here’s what you need to get started:
Download Odin3 v1.30
Download CF-Root package depending on your Android version
Download Samsung Galaxy S i9000 firmware
Also remember to back up your data before you do this. Disable any lag fixes. This is best done on a clean installation of the OS so if you can, back up your data and do a factory reset to avoid [...]
Version 3.5 of HTC’s custom Android UX Sense was leaked a few days ago and today, a custom ROM featuring Sense 3.5 – based on Android 2.3.4 “Gingerbread” – has been released which works on the HTC Desire HD.
The custom ROM comes from the usual crafty bunch of folks over on XDA-Developer forums where RCTeam announced it. It is not absolutely stable at the moment, but most things work and it isn’t unusable. If you’ve got a spare Desire HD lying around, you’ll definitely want to check this out.

We’ve got great news for owners of the HTC Sensation: a new ROM has been released for the smartphone which, basically, makes proper use of its dual-core processing power making the overall user experience a whole lot smoother.

We could talk endlessly about the little, under-the-hood changes made by Team Revolution, but it really is sufficient to know that Android Revolution HD for HTC Sensation essentially [...]
Google recently introduced video and voice chat on their Google Talk app for Android. While, officially, this is specific to Android 2.3.4 only, we’ve gained information regarding how you can video/voice chat using Google Talk on phones which aren’t on Android 2.3.4. Follow the guide after the break!
The hack comes from the usual suspects: the highly capable folks over at XDA-Developers. A member who goes by the name of britoso has managed to make video/voice chat work over Google Talk on most phones running Android 2.3 “Gingerbread”. He extracted the .apk file from Android 2.3.4, [...]
HTC has finally launched an official Desire Gingerbread update, which will update the HTC Desire to Android 2.3.3.
There’s a pretty big catch, though. This is not your traditional “over the air” update that’s all nice and easy. Instead, users have to download and install Android 2.3 on the HTC Desire manually.
Also, HTC has issued a lengthy disclaimer alongside the Desire 2.3.3 update, in which it claims this is a slightly hard thing to do and that it is “not for general public use” and that the company “disclaims liability” should anything go wrong.
However, [...]
